Everyone will tell you Lando Norris controlled the Miami sprint from pole. They're wrong. He didn't control it — he ended it in the first five corners. By the time Hamilton reached Turn 6, the race was already over.

Here's what makes this brutal: Hamilton's tyres were actually getting better as the sprint went on. His degradation rate was effectively flat. Norris's was marginally negative — meaning his lap times were slightly improving. Neither driver had a tyre cliff. Neither driver made a strategy mistake. This was just pure pace difference in one sector, repeated nineteen times.

The narrative will be that Norris dominated. He did. But it wasn't domination across the lap — it was surgical precision in the five corners that matter most at Miami. Hamilton was competitive everywhere else. He just never made it out of Sector 1 with enough time left to fight.

What to watch in Canada: Montreal has two low-speed chicanes and a hairpin. If Ferrari haven't fixed whatever is killing them through tight corners, Hamilton and Leclerc are going to have the same problem — except this time it'll happen three times per lap instead of once. The McLaren doesn't need to be faster everywhere. It just needs to be faster in the corners where you can't carry speed.
