Here's what everyone missed while watching Norris cruise to victory: Hamilton was faster than Norris in Sector 3. Not close. Faster. The Ferrari was also basically matched through Sector 2 — just four hundredths off the McLaren through the chicane complex and back straight.

The entire 21-second gap came from one place: Turns 1 through 5. The slow stuff. The corners where Ferrari has been a disaster all season, and Miami's tight infield confirmed it in the cruelest possible way.

The speed trace makes it brutal. Hamilton's Ferrari carries similar speed through the fast stuff — but every time Norris accelerates out of a slow corner, the McLaren just leaves. That's not driver error. That's a car that won't rotate, won't put power down early, and forces Hamilton to wait before he can attack the throttle.

And here's the part that should terrify Ferrari: Hamilton's tyres degraded slower than Norris's. Not by much, but Norris's mediums were losing pace over the stint while Hamilton's stabilised. Ferrari had the tyre management. They just didn't have a chassis that could exploit it.

Antonelli started P2, finished P6, and picked up a five-second penalty for track limits. Hamilton started P7, finished P7, and drove the cleanest race of anyone in the top ten. Same car. One driver kept it on the island, the other didn't — and they both lost.

That's not driver variance. That's a car that's undriveable in the one sector that matters most at Miami.

Norris won by six tenths a lap. Hamilton could've driven the perfect race — he basically did — and he still would've finished seventh. When your deficit is baked into Sector 1 and your car can't turn, there's no strategy, no tyre management, no driving style that saves you.

Canada has three tight hairpins and a wall-lined chicane. If Ferrari shows up with this same low-speed balance, Hamilton's going to qualify seventh again. And this time, he won't have the excuse of a sprint format.
