Antonelli took pole. Colapinto qualified eighth. They were separated by half a second through Sector 1 and the rest of the lap barely mattered.

Antonelli's fastest lap was an 87.798. Colapinto's was an 88.762. The gap between them was 0.964 seconds. Of that, 0.504 came before they reached Turn 6.
The Mercedes was faster everywhere. It was 0.255 seconds quicker in Sector 2, 0.205 in Sector 3. But those deltas were marginal. Sector 1 was not. That was domination.

Colapinto had four lap times deleted for track limits violations. Three of them were at Turn 15. He was pushing — he had to be — but the Alpine was simply not quick enough through the low-speed corners to make it matter.
Antonelli also had a lap deleted, at Turn 5, but it was in the pit lane. He had already banked his pole lap by then. The session was effectively over.

Miami rewards front-end grip. The chicanes, the hairpin at Turn 11, the slow corners in the stadium section — all of it favours a car that turns in cleanly. The Mercedes did. The Alpine did not.
