Jeddah Has Always Punished This Mistake — And It Just Caught Sainz

Carlos Sainz was half a second down in Sector 1 and never recovered. We've seen this script before at this circuit — and it always ends the same way.

The 2022 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix qualifying session was decided in Sector 1. Max Verstappen found six tenths through the first eight corners and Charles Leclerc never got it back. Three years later, Carlos Sainz just lost the same qualifying session in the exact same place — half a second down through Turns 1 through 8, P6 on the grid, no route back.
