Sector two at the Red Bull Ring is four corners. The chicane at turns four and five. The long right-hander at six. The short straight into turn seven. Russell lost more time there than exists in the other two sectors combined.

Both drivers set their fastest laps on lap seventeen. Both were on soft tyres from lap one. The Mercedes was not slower on paper.
Russell simply did not extract the same time through the technical section. Norris carried more speed into turn four, held more speed through the chicane, and was already gone by the time they reached the long right at turn six.

Silverstone is next weekend. Sector two there is thirteen corners. If Russell cannot solve this, it will be a long afternoon.
