Hamilton's Sector 3 Masterclass Was Wasted on the Wrong Tyre Call

Lewis Hamilton was over a second faster through the Wall of Champions than Oscar Piastri — and still finished behind him. That's not a driver problem. That's a strategy disaster.

Lewis Hamilton was 1.141 seconds faster than Oscar Piastri through Sector 3 — the Wall of Champions chicane where races are won and lost. Hamilton set faster average lap times. He was quicker on every meaningful measure.

He finished fourth. Piastri finished fifth. That doesn't make sense until you look at what happened on Lap 54.
